The Team
The Tempest browser team build the software that lets us explore the internet. They optimize performance, security and compatibility, making browsing the web possible and enjoyable.

Locations
At Tempest, we have a global presence and operate from located worldwide, including Ireland, France, Germany, America, and Singapore. We are proud to be a remote-first organization, embracing the flexibility and innovation it brings to our team.

Responsibilities
  • Develop new and support existing Tempest products, search extensions, and others.
  • Work with Product Management, as well as other stakeholders (Backend, Design, DevOps, etc.) to conceptualize and execute new features.
  • Help define internal standards for style, maintainability, and security best practices for our front-end projects. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code reviews.
  • Invest in building automated tests and improving coverage and testing strategy in your area of responsibility.
  • Help identify areas of improvement, mentor, and collaborate with other front-end engineers in areas specific to your projects and across Tempest as a whole.
What You Bring
  • A solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Typescript.
  • Experience working with WebExtensions.
  • Experience working with a front-end framework/library such as React, Vue, or Svelte.
  • Capacity to clearly communicate complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions.
  • Experience with writing automated tests (eg. Jest, Jasmine, Mocha).
  • Experience using Git in a professional/workplace environment.
  • Experience with performance and optimization problems and a demonstrated ability to diagnose, fix and prevent these problems.
  • Hands-on knowledge with common front-end development tools such as Webpack, NPM, etc.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, is sufficient for success in an international work environment.

  • Authoring and publishing a browser extension on Chrome Web Store, Mozilla Addons or other public store.
  • Experience migrating a Manifest v2 extension to Manifest v3.
